Barlow resident, Alan Plumb, died in the hospital unexpectedly on Monday, January 3rd, 2022. He was 64. A Celebration of Life will be held 1:00pm, Friday, January 14, 2022 at Pathway Church in Gresham, Oregon. Alan Jay Plumb was born April 16, 1957 in Portland, Oregon to Bruce and Mary Helen (Guilford) Plumb. He was raised in Portland, and graduated high school from Marshall High School. On April 14, 1984, he married Jill Lunday, in Portland where they started their family. The family moved to Canby 9 years ago in April. Alan worked as a structural designer for Smith Monroe & Grey Engineers for 27 years, he was set to retire in April of this year. Alan enjoyed woodworking, and was an avid musician and drummer. He played in many musical groups including the Drum and Bugle Corp., The Willamette Falls Symphony, Oregon Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, and many years with the One More Time Around Again Marching Band. He even played the timpani in the Astoria production of the Nutcracker. Survivors include his wife, Jill; sons, Christopher (Jenn) Plumb, Bret Plumb, Jeffrey Plumb, Grant (Nikki) Plumb, and Benjamin Plumb; mother, Mary Helen Plumb; Siblings, Ted Plumb, Larry Plumb, Kelly Buck; grandsons, Kaedyn and Oliver and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Bruce Plumb, and sister, Sandy Jumonville.
The family is establishing a charitable donation fund for children to attend music camp or attain music lessons in Alan’s honor. More details will follow as we finalize this. Please consider donating in lieu of flowers or food when we have this established.
