Longtime Estacada resident, Charles O. Stapleton, died at his home on Friday, August 7, 2020. He was 87. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Charles O. Stapleton was born October 3, 1932 in Cromona, Kentucky to Paul and Della (Freeman) Stapleton. He graduated from high school there. He then attended The University of Wyoming where he received his bachelor degree in teaching. On December 26, 1957 Charles married Julie Bondi in Portland. They lived in Portland, Oregon, Bristol, Virginia and Maupin, Oregon before settling in Estacada in 1965. He worked for Estacada School District as a football coach, athletic director, and track coach. He retired in the mid 1990’s. After retirement he worked as a marshal for Persimmons Golf Course in Gresham for over 10 years. Survivors include his wife Julie; daughter, Kelli Ann (Jeff) Namhie; son, Robert Scott (Elena) Stapleton; grandchildren, Alex Cordial, Charlie Stapleton, Anna Stapleton; sister, Sue Shields; brothers, Timothy Wayne Stapleton; Jim Stapleton and several nieces and nephews.
