Long time Colton resident Donna Lee Strahan died in her Elwood home Saturday December 21st 2019. A celebration of life service will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 18th at the Elwood Community Center/ Historic School House. Donna Lee Gibson was born one of 9 children November 30, 1932 in The Dalles Oregon, to Oral F Gibson and Mattie Leola Crist Gibson. She married James L Strahan December 28, 1958 in Oregon City Oregon. They moved their family to Colton Oregon in 1967. The family moved to Estacada in 1971 to become the caretakers of Metzler Park. Donna went to night school in Estacada and earn her GED during this time. In 1974 they moved back to their property in Elwood / Colton. Donna and Jim were avid Rock Hounds & Mushroom Hunters. They loved camping from Canada to the Grand Canyon. Jim died April 2, 1988. Donna worked at the Weyerhaeuser tree nursery in Aroura Oregon as a foreman for 35 plus years. After her retirement she traveled to Saipan, Hawaii and Mexico where she helped build a church. She was a longtime member of Lower Highland Bible church, Donna taught Sunday school off and on throughout her life. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels & Friends of the Library. Donna enjoyed music, reading, gardening, herbalism and baking. She was a Loving mother and grandmother, survivors include her sons Jimmy Morris and Todd Strahan, Her Daughter Tamara Burke, Grand Children Trina Perkins and husband Andrew Perkins of Salem Oregon. Trisha Shaw and Husband Jared Shaw of Eagle Idaho. Jessy Morris, Jessica Morris and Sky Morris and 6 great Grandchildren. Sister’s Joannie Gibson and Sister in law Eva Gibson. Many Nieces and Nephews.
