Longtime Colton resident Dorothy Ledbury died at the home of her granddaughter on Thursday, August 1, 2019 in Lebanon, Oregon with her family by her side. A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, August 9, 2019 at Estacada Funeral Chapel followed by a committal service at Elwood Pioneer Cemetery. Dorothy Mae Bennett was born one of 15 children on February 8, 1924 in Johnson City, Tennessee to Harrison and Georgia (Arnett) Bennett. She was raised in Tennessee. On November 17, 1944 she marred George Ledbury II in Moody Field, Georgia. In 1945, they moved their family to Colton after George was discharged from the Army Air Corp. She was a quality controller for Birdseye for several years. They were just shy of their 50th wedding anniversary when he died in 1994. She had a green thumb and could grow anything and was known as the “Dahlia Lady” , Dorothy enjoyed bowling, horses and was an amazing mother and grandmother. Survivors include her son, George L. Ledbury III and his wife Shirley of Elwood; grandsons, George L. Ledbury IV, Charles S. Ledbury, Brian L. Ledbury; granddaughter, Patricia A. Farley and 14 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; brothers, John O’Dell Bennett, Ira Mickey both of Molalla, Ray Lee Bennett, RC Bennett both of Tennessee; sisters, Frances Bennett Watauga, Tennessee, Juanita Rice of St. Simons, Georgia.
