Longtime Eagle Creek resident, Douglas King, died on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. He was 76 years old.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Willamette National Cemetery with military honors.
Douglas Emery King was born December 15, 1946 in Portland, Oregon to Kenneth and June (Redifer) King. He was raised in Portland and graduated from David Douglas High School. He attended college in Portland before being drafted into the US Army Security Agency where he was stationed in Japan. Douglas married Satsuko Inaba on September 11, 1970 in Sapporo, Japan. They lived there for 6 years before moving to Oregon City to start a family. In 2013, they moved to Eagle Creek. Douglas was the owner and operator of Techweld Co, retiring in 2003.
Doug enjoyed a lot of hobbies. As a side job he ran a bamboo nursery at his home in Oregon City. He also enjoyed making knives, Japanese swords, hunting, fishing, and being in the outdoors.
He was a life long Oregonian. He would say that things have gone to hell in this state.
Survivors include his wife, Satsuko; son, Kenji King; grandchildren, Connor and Adam King.
