Longtime Estacada resident, Elisabeth Weber, died in Oregon City on Friday, March 18, 2022. She was 88 years old. A celebration of her life will be held 1:00 PM, Sunday, April 3, 2022 at Estacada Funeral Chapel. Elisabeth Hekler was born June 12, 1933 in Romania. At age 12, her family moved to Germany. In 1956, she immigrated to Los Angeles where she met Johann Weber, and they were married on September 7, 1957. They lived there before moving to Oregon, settling in Estacada in 1971 where she has lived since. She spoke Hungarian, German, English, and a little Romanian. Elisabeth was an avid gardener of vegetables, flowers, and berries. She was also an excellent cook and baker, especially of Hungarian and German recipes. Making bread was one of Elisabeth’s specialties. She also enjoyed crafts such as knitting and crocheting. Living on a small farm she also took care of chickens and cows. Elisabeth was a loving and kind wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She appreciated the simple things in life and helped those around her appreciate them too. Elisabeth brought joy and light and acceptance to those around her. She was a most generous and wise soul. She is dearly loved and will be missed by her survivors including her daughter, Christine Weber; son, Frank Weber; grandchildren, Isaac and Sophia Fox; siblings, Julius Hekler, Sofie Meinl, Barbara Hekler, Josef Hekler and many nieces and nephews.
