Larry Till – Obituary
Longtime Estacada resident, Larry Till died at his home on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. He was 71 years old.
A celebration of his life will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 30, 2023 at a private home at the Valley View Airport off Duus Road in Estacada, Oregon.
Lawrence Willson Till was born December 3, 1951 in Fresno, California to John and Grace (Harris) Till. He has two younger brothers, Lloyd and Rodney Till in the Lake Tahoe area in California. He was married his childhood friend and neighbor Patti Sue Kier on June 27, 1987. Patti has two adult children, Levi and Jennifer in the Portland area. Larry has two adult children, Celeste and Michael in southern Oregon. They have 2 grandchildren. Crystal in Sacramento, California. They lost their grandson, Adrian, last year. Adrian has a daughter, Elaina, in Gresham.
Larry graduated from Hanford High School in 1970. In high school, he was very active in sports serving as varsity quarterback. But, his love was baseball. After high school he played on several baseball and volleyball city leagues.
Larry entered into the US Air Force in 1971. Larry was honorably discharged in 1977.
Larry retired in 2008 from LNAS, Lemoore, as a Battalion Fire Chief after 37 years of Civil Service. Larry always had part-time jobs, umpiring High School baseball, as a cook for Lacey Grill or mowing lawns in Hanford. After moving to Estacada, Larry was a volunteer at the Estacada Community Center as a kitchen aide and then served on their Board for 2 years. He also worked at the Collins Retreat for a few years.
Larry loved playing Texas Hold'em poker with his Mad Poker friends at the Casadero every week. He kept his friend laughing, having fun and never had an enemy. His Mad Poker friends will be celebrating the life of, and friendships with Larry on Thursday, September 14th at The Cazadero during the uhregular Thursday poker game.
