Michael Jay Armstrong, son of Leighton and Lucille Armstrong was born on March, 8, 1948 in Yakima, WA. At the age of one his family moved to small farm in the town of Husum, Washington where he attended school and lived until enlisting into the US Army in the year 1966. He served in the army as a radio operator station in Okinawa Japan for 2 years. After his service, he started his long career with the US forest service as a civil engineer White Salmon, Washington. With the forest service he was relocated a few times and worked in Libby Mt, Prineville OR, and finally in Estacada OR. It was in Libby in 1976 that met and married Karen. Mike and Karen had two sons, Dave and Adam. A dog, Taffy and a cat Bootsie. He retired from the forest service in 1994 and spent a lot of his time fishing and hunting before returning to the work force with the Housing Authority of Clackamas County, retiring in 2007. Mike is survived by his wife, Karen, sons; Dave (Kristina), Adam, (Jaime); siblings, Carole, Ron, Darrell and Mark (Peggy); and he was blessed with 5 grandchildren, Abigail, Maxwell, Makenzie, Maddy and Jaxson. The last few years of Mikes life he spent battling with Alzheimer’s disease and passed away on May 30, 2019. A celebration of life will be held at Clackamas Valley Baptist Church on Monday, June 17 at 11:00 AM. Private Inurnment will be at Willamette National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and cards, the family asks that any donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
