Former Estacada, Oregon and longtime Berryville, Arkansas resident, Dick Waxenfelter, died on Saturday, March 21, 2020 in Canby, Oregon. He was 79. A private graveside service was held at Mt. Zion Cemetery and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Richard Brady Waxenfelter was born December 16, 1940 in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to Jack and Ruth (Reno) Waxenfelter. He was raised in Beaver Falls, PA and Long Beach, CA. He served 4 years with the US Air Force, primarily stationed in Newfoundland. On January 16, 1964, he married Joella Wendt. They lived in San Clemente, CA, Bullhead City, AZ, Atkins, AR, Portland, OR, Oregon City, OR, Estacada, OR, Berryville, AR, and Tualatin, OR. His varied career included: Power Plant Storeroom and Payroll Clerk, DMV driver tester, line foreman at the Morton’s donut factory, nuclear power plant metals inspector, custodian/head maintenance man for the Gladstone, OR school district, and drug & alcohol rehab counselor. An outgoing, gregarious friend to many, Dick was a voracious reader and loved trivia challenges. He enjoyed American history, travel, DIY building projects and had a great passion for sharing God’s Word through jail ministries and as a member of the Gideon’s. Survivors include his wife, Joella; sons, Aaron Waxenfelter, Royce Waxenfelter, 8 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren, & 2 Brothers: Jack of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and James of Grove City, Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his son Grady Waxenfelter in 2014.
